Off to JPMorgan Healthcare Conference…

We wanted at alert readers of our upcoming coverage of the J.P.Morgan Healthcare conference. Held in San Francisco at the always jam-packed Westin St. Francis, the meeting gathers the who’s who of the life sciences industry. A few things I'm looking forward to? Since last year's meeting, Pfizer has a new CEO & head of R&D, and I'm interested to see what comes out of their session. Vertex will be presenting just days after the industry learned that Merck managed to get its new drug application for the Hepatitis C drug boceprevir in before Vertex's NDA for telaprevir. That said, the biotech next week will be highlighting its cystic fibrosis program, an area I've kept a close eye on. The RNAi companies presenting will surely have to answer to questions about the industry's faith in the therapeutic potential of the concept. And that's just the beginning. Some 350 companies will be presenting, not to mention the slew of public  and private biotechs holding court just a few blocks away at the Biotech Showcase. Between interviews, I’ll be tweeting (@lisamjarvis) from the big pharma sessions and blogging as much as possible. My running shoes (well, most comfortable heels) are ready, my elbows are sharpened for the fire-code defying stairwells, and I've been perfecting my ability to be two places at once.  For those wanting to follow the flow of tweets out of the meeting, check out those using the hashtag #JPM11.
