Need A Better Parking Spot At Berkeley? Win A Nobel Prize.

U.C. Berkeley has a pretty sweet perk for the Nobel Laureates on its faculty- prime parking spaces. I’ve been on the Berkeley campus since last Thursday for a conference, and somehow the topic came up while I was visiting Chris Chang’s group in the department of chemistry. Nothing beats the ‘NL’ parking, Chang quips. The spots in this picture (each labeled with ‘NL’ for Nobel Laureate) are within spitting distance of the university’s recently-opened Stanley Hall, which houses bioscience researchers. (It’s the building on the left- check out the greenish copper roof!)

In case you’re wondering, Berkeley counts eight Laureates among its faculty. I doubt Steve Chu is using his spot much these days, though.
