Foiled

When the cat’s away the mice will play. That old adage seems well suited academic labs when P.I.s slip away for a summer holiday. When I was in graduate school, it simply meant that we came in a little later, left a little earlier, and played our music a little louder. But the “mice” at Gustavus Adolphus College, in Minnesota, have more elaborate play plans.

According to an article in the Telegraph, when chemistry professor Scott Bur returned from vacation he found his office and everything in it wrapped in aluminum foil. Even individual pens got the foil treatment. In the video below, Bur explains that it’s become something of a tradition for the students to redecorate his office. In years past, they’ve made it into a pirate ship and a “Disney Princess” room.

I particularly like the foiled molecular model.
