On Scientists Versus Toothiologists

A hat tip to Cosmic Variance for this gem of a monologue, roughly centered on the divide between science-based medicine and homeopathy, by comic Dara Ó Briain. Ó Briain reportedly studied mathematics and physics as an undergraduate.

Ó Briain is also pretty funny on the subject of creationism:

I must note, however, that homeopathic or herbal medicines aren’t always quite as innocuous as “a nice bowl of soup and some potpourri.” Zinc applied in the nose as a cold remedy, for example, can ruin your sense of smell. Remember that such products are treated as dietary supplements and consequently are not regulated nearly as closely as pharmaceuticals.
