Top 5 For Monday

A few things we’re excited to see and do today …

1. Catch the latest advances in nanomedicine. (9 AM–12:10 PM and 2–5:30 PM, Loews, Washington A, COLL Division)

2. Assess agrochemicals’ effects on the environment, as well as on animal and human health. (9:45–11:25 AM, and 1:45–4:05 PM, Crowne Plaza City Center, Liberty A, AGRO Division)

3. Embrace technologies for transitioning to greener chemistry. (8:30 AM–12 PM and 1:30–5 PM, Sheraton Philadelphia City Center, Independence Ballroom B, CHED Division)

4. At Sci-Mix, show some brotherly love to the participants in the Academic Employment Initiative by checking out their posters. (8–10 PM, Convention Center, Hall C)

5. Order a cheesesteak like a Philly native by saying “Whiz, wit.” That’s a steak sandwich with Cheez Whiz and onions, for all you first-timers. (Rick’s Steaks, inside Reading Terminal Market, 12th Street between Filbert and Arch Streets)

  1. PA Governor Ed Rendell said a real Cheesesteak is made with Amorosos bread (white, bleached, no whole grain), cheap, greasy shaved steak, onions and Cheeze Whiz squirted on everything. Don’t let anyone sell you a whole grain, good meat, real cheese sandwich–that is not a Cheesesteak. Rick’s keeps the Cheessteak faith.

  2. Oddly, I think I would still prefer a whole grain, good meat, real cheese sandwich.

  3. I’m with you, Mitch. I guess that makes me some kind of cheesesteak elitist. Sorry, Neil.
